The Greatest Tournament in the History of Our Sport (sponsored by the WCW Hotline), or G-1-900-909-9900 (G-1-900 for short) is a round-robin tournament that takes place in the second and third month of the cycle (February & March/August & September). Competitors compete in two blocks of an equal number, with one block's matches on Hour 1 of Nitro, and the other block on Worldwide. Each wrestler faces all the other wrestlers in their block, with 2 points awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. The two wrestlers that finish atop their respective blocks meet in the finals, with the winners receiving a shot at the WCW World Championship at Fall Brawl at the end of the month.

History

During the July 21, 2015 WCW Universe Mode stream, it was announced that the Greatest Tournament in the History of Our Sport (sponsored by the WCW Hotline, referred to as the G-1-900-909-9900, or G-1-900 for short) would take place in August of the in-game calendar, and last for the 7 weeks between the August "Clash Wild" show and conclude in October at a special "Clash-max Final" show. The field of 14 competitors were announced at this stream, as well as the group pairings.

In the first ever G-1-900-909-9900, Block A matches will take place on Worldwide, while Block B matches will take place on Hour 1 of Nitro. Each week, one of the seven competitors will have a "bye". No official announcement is made, but I wouldn't be surprised if after the first few weeks, some weird-ass stipulations start popping up with these matches.

Cycle 0

The inaugural G-1-900-909-9900 took place on streams between August 16, 2015 and September 22, 2015, and included 14 participants.

2016

After a lengthy absence from WCW Universe Mode, the 2016 G-1-900-909-9900 was announced and began on September 8, 2016, concluding on TBD. Unlike last year's, this G-1-900 was conducted outside of Universe Mode, in order to allow for a larger tournament field. The 2016 tournament comprised of 20 competitors, expanding from the prior year's 14.
